"Our
Proud Voices" was founded in 1989 at Hazleton U.R.S. to provide
individuals who live with a disability an outlet for their talent and
energy. In addition to URS consumers, the group is composed of staff,
parents, Kiwanis Aktion Club members, and community friends.
The popularity of the group has grown to the
point that "Our Proud Voices" now performs year round for service
clubs, local television shows, and charitable telethons and fundraisers.
Under the direction of Hazleton URS Director Cathy Seamon,
the group has:
Performed at Walt Disney World's Millennium Celebration
Entertained 12,000 Kiwanians and guests at their
International Convention in Denver
Received the "Empowerment Happens" award from the
Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities
