As a local branch, URS can assist any resident of
Pennsylvania who is interested in borrowing from an inventory of more
than 1,000 assistive technology devices from Pennsylvania's Assistive
Technology's Lending Library which receives funding from the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The URS Local Branch can assist persons with
disabilities in Wyoming, Luzerne, Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe,
Northhampton and Schuykill Counties.
The inventory includes devices for play, work, learning,
and living for people of all ages. This is a free program that is
designed to give the person with a disability a chance to use a device
for a few weeks to see if it is helpful, before considering a purchase.
An assistive technology device is any item, piece of
equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially or custom
made, that is used to enable individuals with disabilities to
communicate, learn, play, achieve, work and be independent.
